Who We Are

We are a small family run business, dealing in Antiques and All Periods of Furniture. With years of experience and knowledge, we have bought and sold hundreds of pieces to hundreds of customers. We have tried many categories of item in our time, but found that everyone has (and needs) furniture, so that's why we primarily deal in that.


Function Furniture is part of a larger limited company, known as The Function Group Limited (registered in England and Wales). Whilst selling furniture through this channel, we also service the wedding and event market by offering rental of Refrigerated Trailers and Generators for Weddings and Events, through our business of Function Fridges. We want you to know the item before you see it, so we take multiple pictures so you can see its condition fully and accurately. That way you can ascertain what its like.

Payment Information
Cash on Collection is our preferred payment method, this is so you can see the item and make sure you are fully happy with it before paying for it and buying it. However we understand that customers expect other methods. 

For buyers wishing to use a courier to collect on their behalf we accept payments by Cash also but extend payment methods to include; BACS (Bacs Payment Systems Limited previously known as Bankers' Automated Clearing Service) or Cheque. All payments are to be made to our Limited Company Account and Full Receipts can be provided. Once cleared payment has been received the courier can collect the item.

Card Payments are Accepted in person (unfortunately we are unable to do this over the phone). We use Sumup as our card payment handler and can accept any credit or debit card that displays a Visa, V PAY, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express, Discover, Diners Club or China Union Pay logo (see logos at the base of the paragraph). For the transaction fees involved the item (or items) bought must exceed £50.00 and be collected in person.

PayPal is accepted only on full priced (no offer) collected in person items. If paid by PayPal, buyers will be required to sign for items upon collection - this is so we comply with all terms. Items can not be couriered by a third party if paid for by PayPal - you (as the buyer and holder of the PayPal account) must collect in person.

Courier Information 
We understand that sometimes you wish to buy something but are not a position to collect and rely on a courier to collect on your behalf. For cases like this, as mentioned above, payment methods are by Cash, BACS or Cheque. Once paid it is up to the buyer to book and pay for the courier, this is so the courier is their customer and we do not handle the money for the courier. We are able to assist in finding a courier and liaising with collection, but once it has left our premises then it is outside our remit.

Please note that due to damage caused by unknown (normally very cheap) independent couriers, if you wish to arrange a furniture courier to collect on your behalf we highly recommend the following:

If you are in the local area to us (Essex, Suffolk, parts of Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Kent and London (and some other close areas)) you should use our local approved courier (Steve Locke). We have had items collected and delivered by him multiple times and never had any issues - details opposite.

For deliveries further afield we recommend the use of other couriers we have or AnyVan. It is up to the buyer to choose a reputable courier (something we stress highly), as any damage caused in transit is not our responsibility and we will not be liable for it. Once it leaves our site, the responsibility and liability for the item rests with the courier company. The courier will be required to sign for the item and accept it in the sold for and stated condition upon collecting from us.
